A copper-nickel alloy with stable composition and a silvery-white luster. Exported to Europe as 'Chinese silver' (Paktong). The West did not analyze its composition until the 18th century.

Scientific Principle
Cu-Ni alloys: nickel addition transforms copper from red to white and improves corrosion resistance. Ternary Cu-Ni-Zn alloy: zinc lowers melting point and improves castability.
